Description

−

Propionate LA® contains testosterone propionate, testosterone attached to a short three-carbon propionate ester. It was the first commercial testosterone ester, introduced in the 1930s. Because the ester is short, blood levels rise and fall within a few days, so it needs more frequent administration than enanthate or cypionate. In bodybuilding literature it is mostly discussed for cutting and conditioning phases where faster clearance is preferred.

Composition

+

It contains 100 mg/ml of testosterone propionate in a sterile oil base with benzyl benzoate and benzyl alcohol. The short propionate ester is removed in the body to release free testosterone. Supplied as 10 ml Vial.

Outcome

+
  • Frequently referenced for cutting and conditioning phases.
  • Described as acting faster and clearing faster than long-acting testosterone esters.
  • Often associated with less water retention than long esters, mainly because of more stable short-term levels.
  • Converts partly into estrogen and DHT, like all testosterone forms.
  • Commonly noted for injection-site soreness because of the short ester.
  • These are commonly discussed associations in community and research literature, not approved performance claims.

Side Effects

+
  • Pain, redness or swelling at the injection site, which is more common with propionate than with longer esters.
  • Suppression of natural testosterone production and reduced sperm count with non-medical use.
  • Estrogen-related effects such as water retention and breast tissue growth (gynecomastia), because testosterone converts into estrogen.
  • Acne, oily skin, and hair loss in people who are genetically prone to it.
  • Raised red blood cell count (hematocrit) and blood pressure, which increase cardiovascular risk.
  • Unfavourable cholesterol changes, mainly lower HDL ("good") cholesterol.
  • Virilizing effects in women, such as voice deepening, body hair growth and menstrual changes. These can be permanent.
  • This is not a complete list and should not be treated as medical guidance.

Important Safety Information

+
  • Contraindications: Do not use it if you have prostate or male breast cancer, severe heart, liver, or kidney disease, or a known allergy to the ingredients. It should not be used during pregnancy or by anyone under 18.
  • Common Side Effects: Acne, oily skin, mood changes, changes in libido, and fluid retention.
  • Serious Risks: Cardiovascular strain, raised blood pressure, unfavourable cholesterol changes, reduced fertility, prolonged suppression of natural hormone production, and irreversible virilization in women.
  • Product Quality: This is a widely counterfeited product category. A product sold under this name may not contain what the label says, which adds a separate safety risk.

FAQ

+

What is Propionate LA®?

Propionate LA® is an injectable product containing testosterone propionate, a short-acting form of testosterone made by LA Pharma.

How is propionate different from enanthate or cypionate?

Propionate has a much shorter ester, so it acts and clears faster. Enanthate and cypionate are long-acting and give steadier levels.

Why can propionate injections be painful?

The short ester and the solvents used are known to irritate tissue more than long-ester products, so post-injection soreness is commonly reported.

Is testosterone propionate approved?

It has been approved in several countries, but it is now less commonly prescribed. In the United States, testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance.

Is it legal without a prescription?

No. Non-prescribed use is regulated or prohibited in most countries.
